This set of works was done during my studies in London and Paris from 1985 to 1993.
From 1985 to 1989 my parents lived in Niamey, Niger, Africa.
My African experience (including my time in Kenya from 1976 – 1981) was of tremendous influence to me.
This intimate experience with nature left its mark on me. It shaped my interest in environmental issues as well as my interest in using nature as a source of inspiration.
The desert has many faces: Desolation, barrenness...and yet a majestic and spiritual beauty.
It’s nature is ambiguous: simultaneously threatening and overwhelming. It is a terrain of challenge.
